• NRL tops non-news in Sydney as finals loom
Total TV Ratings, August 25
Gogglebox was the top entertainment program in the total TV ratings. The Channel 10 program had 822,000 viewers which was an increase of its overnight ratings by 36%.
Home and Away was the top entertainment program for Seven with an average audience of 754,000 (up 30%) tuning in for the soap’s first two episodes, while 743,000 (up 32%) watched the third and final episode of the night.
On Nine, the broadcaster’s NRL coverage of the Parramatta Eels taking on the Brisbane Broncos had 637,000 viewers, which was an increase of 9%.

The first week of the AFL finals has helped push Seven to both a dominant primary channel (29.1%) and network (24.6%) win last night.
The match between Brisbane and Richmond had 786,000 viewers, with 434,000 of that audience tuning in from Melbourne, making it easily the most watched program in the market. The match was also #1 in all key demographics.
Home and Away aired across a combination of Seven’s primary channel and 7mate with 280,000 tuning in.
On Nine, A Current Affair had 511,000 viewers as it told the story of Samy and Vinida Velleyen, an immigrant couple who are facing deportation after 14 years in Australia. The final round of the NRL’s regular season then kicked off as the Parramatta Eels defeated the Melbourne Storm with 385,000 viewers tuning in. The match had 207,000 viewers from Sydney making it the top non-news program in the market.
On 10, Gogglebox was the top primetime entertainment program of the night with 381,000 tuning in. Earlier in the night, The Project had 189,000 (6:30pm) and 267,000 (7:00pm) as the show covered the jobs summit and spoke to Rob Byrdon.
On the ABC, Foreign Correspondent had 244,000 viewers as it took viewers to Chinna to examine the dementia crisis. Q+A followed with 165,000 viewers.
The top program on SBS was World’s Most Scenic River Journeys with 119,000 viewers.
