On Seven, Hey Hey We’re 50! aired at 7:00pm as the anniversary program was hosted by Daryl Somers. The one-off special event celebrated the 50th anniversary of the launch of Australia’s longest-running variety/comedy show.

The show revisited the trademark organised chaos of regular segments including Red Faces, Celebrity Head, The Great Aussie Joke, Plucka Duck and Chooklotto.

Some of the names featuring on the program included Wilbur Wilde, John Blackman, ‘Raymond J. Bartholomeuz’. Kylie Minogue also sent a special 50th-anniversary greeting.

The special had an amazing audience of 1.224m, making it the most-watched program of the night.

There was then a tone change on the broadcaster as they went from celebrating to serial killers with part 4 of Manhunt: The Night Stalker (558,000) followed by Real Manhunter: Catching Night Stalker (218,000).

These strong results pushed Seven to the #1 primary channel (28.4%) and network (35.3%) last night.

On The Block there were more fun and games between Tanya and Vito and the Fave couples in the lead up to the hallway reveals. Most couples managed to finish their spaces, although Josh and Luke fell short with one of their hallways incomplete.

Ronnie and Georgia wowed judges Neale, Darren and Shaynna with a stunning mini art gallery in their hallway, made up of original pieces they tracked down.

Mitch and Mark redeemed themselves this week and delivered the episodes best talking point, a see-through walkway floor above their basement. They also added a pantry in the butler’s kitchen.

Tanya and Vito did well too although Darren fell out with the other judges over a fun mirror that Neale and Shaynna didn’t want to look at.

The twins flipped the layouts of their living room and dining room and dug their pool hole, but they fell short on the hallways. They played plenty of good Abba tunes though. The altered entrance hallway split the judges. “This is a bloody mess,” said Neale. The laundry was finished though, with praise from Darren for Josh and Luke. “They guys are capable of doing good things,” added Neale.

Kirsty and Jess were happy with their achievement after being absent at the start of the week. The judges were very pleased too. The attention to detail was very impressive and will no doubt impact on auction day. As will the amazing powder room the judges stumbled into. “This is heaven week, not hell week,” said Neale. “This is a mother of a house,” said Darren.

The Block Hell Week scores and money spent

Next week on The Block is Backyard Week with a budget of $35,000. “I can guarantee that means it will probably rain,” said host Scotty Cam. “They call me the rainmaker.”

After 1,075,000 on Sunday a fortnight ago (no Sunday episode last week), last night the start of a new week was on 920,000.

60 Minutes then had 545,000 viewers for Nick McKenzie‘s major investigation where he revealed substantial evidence of disgraceful behaviour at Crown Resorts. The report alleged an arrogant workplace culture and a flagrant disregard for corporate regulations and ethical practices.

The Sunday Project had 270,000 (6:30pm) and 353,000 (7:00pm) as the show discussed fears that rising Covid cases in children could derail the nation’s road map.

Celebrity MasterChef returned last night after last airing in 2009. The premier had 620,000 viewers as comedian Dilruk Jayasinha won the only immunity pin for the season. The theme for the first cook of the season was dishes that you are known for and all eyes were on Tilly Ramsay who was the last contestant of the night and the other contestants presumptive favourite. Ramsay served up her Gyoza and while she was lauded for her technical skill, was told the stuffing was slightly dry as she missed out on the top four.

ABC

On Restoration Australia, 425,000 watched as Anthony Burke met a couple who bought a huge run-down Victorian mansion in Milton, NSW.

The Aussie drama Fires then had an audience of 318,000.

SBS

Inside Central Station continued on SBS with the latest episode bringing in 146,000 viewers.
