One of the highlights of day 3 was the world premiere of Rabbit Hole at the Stateside at the Paramount.
In the new series, John Weir (Kiefer Sutherland) is a master of deception in the world of corporate espionage, who is framed for murder by powerful forces who have the ability to influence and control populations.
In addition to Sutherland, the show features a cast including Charles Dance (“Game of Thrones”) as Dr. Ben Wilson, Meta Golding (“Empire”) as Hailey Winton, Enid Graham (“Mare of Easttown”) as Josephine “Jo” Madi, Jason Butler Harner (“Ozark”) as Valence, Rob Yang (“Succession”) as Edward Homm and Walt Klink (“The English”) as The Intern.
The creators of the show, John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, opened the screening with a few words before they were joined by the cast afterwards for a Q&A.
During the Q&A Sutherland and Dance both explained why they decided to do the show.
Sutherland: “I got a call from John and Glen and they said, ‘hey, we’re working on this idea’, and it was kind of a throwback to films like Three Days of the Condor, Marathon Man, All the President’s Men, and The Parallax View. These are all films that I grew up watching, that I absolutely loved. These were films that I was hoping one day as an actor, that I would be able to be a part of, a version of something like that.”
Dance: “First the quality of the writing, which is the starting point for me with anything that I do. Then knowing that Kiefer Sutherland was going to be doing it, I spoke to my daughter and told her about this project and Keither Sutherland and she said ‘I grew up with the Lost Boys! Please do it’. I didn’t need to be begged by her to do it because I’m an enormous fan of this guy (Sutherland). So with him, and this writing it was a done deal.”
Dance also heavily endorsed the show by saying that it was “Fucking Good!”.
The show was well received in the room with both myself and colleague Greg Graham heavily enjoying it.
Porsche X Transformers: Rise of the Beast
Paramout’s next instalment of the Transformers franchise, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has partnered with Porsche to produce one of the highlights of SXSW.
On display was the iconic Porsche Carrera 911 RS 3.8, which is introduced in the film as Mirage, a heroic Autobot. The installation will see Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Director Steven Caple Jr., actors Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback as Screenwriter and moderator Jon Hoeber took to the Porsche X stage and talked about their experiences creating the film.
The setup itself was quite impressive with displays of Optimus Primal and Optimus Prime towering over visitors at the front of the venue. Inside was a series of stunning porches celebrating 75 years of the car brand, a driving simulator, and a stage with an impressive 3-D Screen.
