Samsung Australia has unveiled five new Galaxy devices, led by the $3,899 Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and a new passport-shaped foldable. The launch also includes the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2.

Samsung is pitching the expanded range around three areas: portable entertainment, productivity and personalised health tracking. Pre-orders open on 23 July and run until 13 August.

Samsung expands its foldable pitch

The Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a wider, passport-like design intended to make video, gaming, reading and social media easier across its two displays. It weighs 201g, making it Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold to date, and includes a 4,800mAh battery and dual 50MP cameras.

The Fold8 Ultra targets users who want more workspace and higher-end creative tools. It features an eight-inch main display, a 200MP camera, a 5,000mAh battery and 45W fast charging.

At 4.1mm when unfolded and 215g, Samsung says it is also the company’s slimmest Galaxy Z Fold design. Prices start at $2,999 for the 256GB model and reach $3,899 for the 1TB version.

The Galaxy Z Flip8 is the compact option. It weighs 180g, measures 6.1mm when open and adds a redesigned cover screen for apps, notifications and Galaxy AI features without fully opening the phone.

Eric Chou, Vice President of Mobile eXperience at Samsung Electronics Australia, said the company was continuing to build on eight generations of foldable devices.

“Today, we’re continuing to push the boundaries and prove that there is no compromise when it comes to the foldable smartphone experience. With the Galaxy Z series, we're delivering our most complete foldable lineup yet and setting a new benchmark for productivity, entertainment and everyday convenience.”

Samsung commissioned Pureprofile to survey a nationally representative sample of 1,017 Australians in July 2026. The research found 84 per cent considered size and portability important when choosing a smartphone.

Two watches for different users

The Galaxy Watch9 is positioned as the everyday option, with 40mm and 44mm models starting at $649. It includes a 3,000-nit display, a 390mAh battery on the 40mm model and AI-supported insights covering sleep, activity, cardiovascular health and recovery.

The $1,299 Galaxy Watch Ultra2 targets runners, hikers, divers and other outdoor users. It includes an 800mAh battery, which is 35 per cent larger than the previous Ultra model, alongside a 5,000-nit peak display and specialised trail-running tools.

Samsung has also rated the Ultra2 to IP69K and 10 ATM, while securing EN13319 certification for measuring depth and dive time. The company says internal changes have made the watch 12 per cent thinner than its predecessor.

Kylie Mason, Head of Wearables, Mobile eXperience at Samsung Electronics Australia, said the two watches were designed around different health and fitness goals.

“Whether you’re looking to beat a personal best, or just stay active, the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 enable advanced, proactive health tracking to give Australians the tools they need for their journey.”

The same Pureprofile research found 70 per cent of Australians regularly exercise. Samsung notes that its health features are intended for fitness and wellness purposes rather than medical diagnosis or treatment.
