Yahoo has rolled out a redesigned Yahoo Weather app for iOS, adding future radar, minute-by-minute rain forecasts and more detailed environmental data.

The global launch aims to give users more context about changing conditions, rather than only displaying the daily forecast. It also introduces custom alerts and tools for tracking several saved locations.

What has changed in Yahoo Weather

The redesigned forecasts include a daily summary that explains how conditions may change. Yahoo has also added MinuteCast precipitation forecasts and personalised notifications.

A new Coming Up feature highlights the week’s most important weather moments without requiring users to search through the full forecast. The app also includes layouts designed for mobile and iPad users.

Maps and radar have been made faster and more responsive. Users can view past and future radar, access severe weather alerts through custom widgets and monitor conditions across multiple locations.

More detail beyond the daily temperature

Yahoo Weather now provides expanded information about air quality, pollen, UV levels, wind, humidity, visibility and moon phases. These features are designed to give users more context about current and upcoming conditions.

“Weather is a digital experience people return to constantly, often multiple times a day. They’re not just looking for the forecast. They’re looking for context to help them navigate and plan their day,” said Mike Park, head of Yahoo Weather.

“We reimagined Yahoo Weather around that need, combining smarter forecasts, more unique insights and a beautifully designed experience that makes checking the weather more useful and more enjoyable.”

The new Yahoo Weather app is now available globally for iOS users.
