GroupM agency Wavemaker has promoted Katherine Williams to national head of SEM (search engine marketing).
Williams’ promotion is effective immediately and she will report to the agency’s national head of digital Dru Nho.
She moves up from her current role as search director after joining Wavemaker in July last year.
In her new role, Williams will work closely with GroupM head of SEM Agnes Szlahotka and GroupM Services to align and develop best practice delivery of SEM services across all Wavemaker clients nationally.
Prior to Wavemaker, she was the activation account director at Resolution Digital, and prior to that, she spent five years in New York with roles at Initiative, Hearts & Science and Resolution Media.
Her experience extends across implementing best-in-class cross-platform strategies in search, social, eCommerce and programmatic in Australia, the UK and US.
Wavemaker Australia & New Zealand CEO Peter Vogel said: “Since joining Wavemaker last year, Katherine has had a hugely positive impact on our SEM delivery to our clients nationally. She has been instrumental in stewarding the Performance and eCommerce marketing proposition for Wavemaker. Her expertise and passion will further enable us to bring the combination of digital marketing and analytics into play to positively provoke growth for our clients.”
Meanwhile Williams said of her promotion: “At Wavemaker, I’m fortunate to work with amazing brands and ambitious clients, as well as smart and passionate colleagues.
“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to lead the growth of SEM for clients across all our offices, as we continue to deliver outstanding client performance,” she added.
Williams’ promotion comes after the agency promoted Philippa Noilea–Tani to the newly created role chief investment officer back in October, tasked with leading investment strategy for the agency’s clients nationally.
