Viewers’ habits didn’t change much in Week 36 with little change to the TV ratings shares. The gap between leaders Seven and Nine did narrow a little but Seven remained #1 for a seventh consecutive week.
TV ratings: Seven 22.8% primary share, 6.6% 7mate, 34.4% network share
Seven News Sunday was #1 for the week with its biggest audience for three weeks – 1,338,000. The bulletin had a lead-in from the last AFL Sunday game of the year.
Just two episodes of The Voice last week and they both managed to crack 1m with 1.167m (Sunday) and 1.006m (Monday).
The new VOZ data shows the true size of the total TV audience for The Voice with 2.357m watching on Sunday in Week 34.
The week’s biggest TV sport audience was watching Western Bulldogs win by just a point over Brisbane Lions on Saturday night – 835,000. That was the biggest AFL audience of the year so far. With just three matches left in the season Seven will be anticipating smashing that record.
Home and Away was down a little from 650,000 to 631,000 week-on-week. The total TV audience for the series has been over 1.3m recently.
Nine: 19.4% primary share, 26.6% network share
Nine News Sunday led the rankings for the network with 1.126m.
The “cheating scandal” on The Block managed to lift the numbers with the first audiences over 900,000 for two episodes this season on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Sunday and Monday episodes were both over 800,000.
A Current Affair averaged 735,000, its best result in a month.
In the battle for viewers early in the day, Today tied with Sunrise across the five cities on Wednesday with an average audience of 263,000. Today also won the week in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and along the East Coast. Nine noted its breakfast show ranked #1 in the key demos across metro markets.
10: 11.1% primary share, 17.1% network share
The Tuesday episode of Australian Survivor pulled the biggest audience this week with 707,000 watching. The Monday and Sunday episodes were on 690,000 and 676,000.
Have You Been Paying Attention? was down week-on-week to 637,000.
The Bachelor Australia Grand Finale was split in two for TV ratings with 629,000 watching the Final Decision and then 578,000 watching the main part of the last episode.
The Project 7pm was just below half a million to 491,000, but was up on the 473,000 from Week 35.
ABC: 10.6% primary share, 14.9% network share
The ABC weekday 7pm news and the Sunday bulletin were both just below 700,000 across the week.
Australian Story was just over 600,000 and Four Corners was just under as was Hard Quiz.
Also making it over half a million was 7.30 on 547,000.
The Newsreader episode three averaged 439,000, but the Total TV numbers tell a different story with 1.224m for an earlier episode when factoring in national audiences, BVOD and catchup.
SBS: 4.0% primary share, 7.1% network share
A repeat episode of Great Asian Railway Journeys attracted the biggest audience with 209,000. Not far behind was last week’s leader What Does Australia Really Think About on 203,000, down from 240,000 in the previous week.
