Nine
Nine was the top primary channel (20.2%) and network (28.5%) last night thanks to its strong combination of A Current Affair, The Block, and Love Island Australia.
Coming off a strong lead-in from Nine News (996,000/997,000), A Current Affair brought in an audience of 709,000 viewers as the show covered freedom day in Sydney and the businesses who were able to re-open.
The Block was the top non-news show of the night with 835,000 viewers. The episode marked the beginning of backyard week which started in traditionally rainy weather. There was almost a drama over the allocation of Margaret River trees but an investigation by Josh and Luke put the issue to bed when it was revealed most of the budget went to Mitch and Mark, not Kirsty and Jesse.
Love Island Australia then returned for the first time since 2019 in its new home of Byron Bay. While fans had to wait even longer due to a Covid-19 outbreak delaying the first episode by a week, the show finally made it back on the air last night with 311,000 tuning in. Live streaming was 57,000 and on demand in the three hours after the show aired was 22,000.
The first episode revealed the first 10 contestants and paired them together but it didn’t take long for the first cheating scandal with Racheal hooking up with Jordan during the second day in the villa. The episode ended with the first bomb entering the house in tall blonde Lexy and the foreboding drama that she will steal one of the men to partner up with by the end of the next episode.
Seven
Home and Away started its week with a strong audience of 589,000 and was the top non-news show on Seven last night.
SAS Australia kicked off its final week as the recruits began their final 48 hours on the course. An audience of 585,000 watched as the recruits attempted one of the most dangerous extraction methods in the Special Forces. Travelling on a high-speed Zodiac, they had to dive into the water and swim against the hazardous downdraft of a chopper to a flimsy ladder, before hauling themselves up a 15 metre climb weighed down by their wet clothes and boots. Worse still, the task was to be complete in just 90 seconds without the safety of a harness.
All five recruits passed the strenuous task, including Jana, who became the first female ever to successfully complete the Ladder Troop Extraction on SAS selection.
After writing death letters to their families recruits then had to complete a two-kilometre assault course featuring several obstacles on water and land.
Forced to do lap after excruciating lap, the DS called an end to the task after a heavily fatigued Jana reached her limit and collapsed, telling the medic she was “super dizzy” and seeing spots. Asthma sufferer John also went down and needed to be treated with oxygen.
As the recovering recruits made their way back to camp, their car was hijacked by armed hostiles, who hooded and bound them, setting up a big season finale.
Deadpool 2 then aired at 8:30 pm with 236,000 viewers tuning in.

Collette Dinnigan ended up winning the immunity challenge after winning over the judges with her risotto. The episode had 601,000 viewers which was down slightly on Sunday night’s 620,000.
Have You Been Paying Attention? then followed with 697,000. The episode was the top program on 10 as well as #1 in the 16-39 demographic. And featured Anne Edmonds, Fifi Box, Marty Sheargold, Sam Pang and Ed Kavalee.
