The penultimate episode of The Block, #49 series 17, came after 12 weeks of work on the homes in Bronte Court. The teams farewelled their builders ahead of the arrival of Scott Cam for the final “tools down”.
“Good morning everybody,” bellowed the host. “You have finished.”
As the judges arrived for their final judging – the front yards – before the auctions, Darren suggested Bronte Court had never looked better.
Ronnie and Georgia – 27.0
Darren called their front yards “a modern masterpiece”. The judges also loved the first beehive ever on The Block.
Mitch and Mark – 29.5
Finally some praise from the judges for the Allstars. “This is an absolute knockout,” said Shaynna. She and Neale subsequently give them 10 which was enough to win the week and win them a Ford Puma.
Tanya and Vito – 24.0
Another last place finish for the controversial couple. Shaynna didn’t like their planting.
Josh and Luke – 24.5
The judges have copped it a lot this series, and the twins certainly unloaded this week. The judges did like the staggered concrete slab entrance and the big olive tree, but not the front fence. “The judges clearly don’t know what they are talking about,” the twins muttered a couple of times in the episode.
Kirstie and Jesse – 28.5
Unlucky not to do better after Neale claimed during judging, “This is suburban grandeur.” He then went one better. “This is the best house that The Block has ever delivered.”
Scott Cam farewelled the teams at the end of the episode, telling them, “This is the best Block ever.” The episode had 1.084m which was down on last Sunday’s 1.100m.
Next week, The Block auctions, and the “truth” about the controversial whiteboard photograph.
