TV Ratings March 22: Big night for docos and current affairs but MAFS still #1

Nine won Monday night thanks to Married at First Sight once again getting over 1 million viewers. The broadcaster had a primary share of 25.4% and a network share of 32.0%, both more than six points clear of the rest of the field.

Following MAFS was Under Investigation with Liz Hayes which had 558,000 as the episode covered the 1997 murder of toddler Jaidyn Leskie, with Greg Domaszewicz, who was acquitted of the killing, speaking out for the first time in more than 20 years. This episode was up on last Monday’s 530,000.

Last night in the 7:30 pm slot, Channel Seven aired the UK special, Inside ChernobylThe feature-length special followed British presenter and adventurer Ben Fogle as he spends a week living inside the Chernobyl exclusion zone, 35 years after the world’s worst nuclear accident. This special brought in 567,000 viewers.

This was followed by a special edition of The Latest at 9 Pm in Sydney and Brisbane with an update on the floods affecting both states, with 201,000 tuning in.

Home and Away was the top non-news program on the channel last night with 581,000.

On 10 532,000 tuned in for The Amazing Race Australia as the teams were in Broken Hill. The Geek and The Princess were eliminated, leaving The Super Sikhs, The Cowboys and The Gold Coast Girls, as the top three teams. This episode was up on last Monday’s which had 491,000 viewers.

199,000 tuned in for Hughesy, We Have A Problem with Merrick Watts and Julia Morris joining regulars Nazeem Hussain and Becky Lucas on the panel with Osher Günsberg and Amy Shark asking the panel for help with their problems.

On The Project 364,000 and 509,000 tuned in as the show covered the floods, a musical gift healing broken hearts, and the latest scandal affecting parliament.

ABC

The public broadcaster had its best Monday night of the year with a big performance from its current affairs lineup.

The lead performer was Four Corners with 708,000 which aired Don’t ask, Don’t tell: The Brittany Higgins story. The lead story from last nights episode has been the security guard that found Higgins after the alleged incident speaking out about what she saw that night.

Four Corners wasn’t the only strong performer with 7:30 (682,000), Australian Story (642,000) and Media Watch (645,000) all performing well last night.

SBS

On SBS, The Secret of Lighthouses was the top rating show with 172,000.
