With 1,8262,000 viewers, New South Wales wasn’t the only winner in the State of Origin as Nine was easily the top primary channel with 34.5% and also the top network with 40.9% last night. This was more than 15 points clear of its nearest competitor in both categories.
While game two of Origin was down slightly on game one’s 1,911,000 metro viewers it was up on last year’s game two (1,654,000) which came in a covid affected end of season series.
The match had almost one million come in from Sydney with 972,000 viewers and 544,000 coming in from Brisbane.

7News Spotlight: Murder She Wrote had 519,000 viewers as the special looked at the case to convict a calculating boyfriend whose girlfriend died in very suspicious circumstances.
The broadcaster then aired the classic movie, Forrest Gump, during the State of Origin game, which brought in 240,000 viewers.
Earlier in the day the AFL’s Sunday afternoon coverage had 438,000.

MasterChef had 601,000 viewers and was the top entertainment show last night thanks to a double elimination that saw Minoli and Scott sent home from the MasterChef kitchen.

Grand Designs return took 493,000 viewers to southwest London before the final season of Jack Irish continued with 397,000 viewers tuning in.

On SBS the top non-news show was the coverage of the Tour De France, with stage 2 bringing in 149,000 viewers.
