Nine TV Ratings
Nine continued its strong Sunday night performance winning the evening with its fourth different 7:30pm franchise of the year, after airing the return of Australian Ninja Warrior. The broadcast had the top primary share last night with 22.7% and followed that up with the top network share as well with 31.3%.
Nine’s coverage of the NRL featured points galore on Sunday afternoon as 268,000 viewers saw 80 points scored between the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and the Gold Coast Titans. The shame for the team from the glitter strip was that most of the points were scored by Manly.
Last night featured the return of one of Nine’s biggest franchises in Australian Ninja Warrior which kicked off its fifth season with a new and improved course and 795,000 viewers. Some of the standout moments included Bryson Klein blitzing Ben Polson on the Power Tower and Olivia Vivian almost wiping out of the show.
60 Minutes followed with 451,000 as Tara Brown reported on the war against cybercriminals and Sarah Abo covered foreign accent syndrome.
Seven TV Ratings
There was no Sunday afternoon AFL on Seven this week but the Supercars filled the void as 216,000 tuned in to the competition’s fifth-round, the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown.
Shane van Gisbergen continued his dominant start to the 2021 season with the Kiwi scoring his 48th career win, extending his series lead to 221 points, and also equalled Peter Brock’s tally of 48 ATCC/Supercars victories.
627,000 watched as 7NEWS Spotlight: Fight Of His Life featured the story of Johnny Ruffo the concreter from Perth who built an entertainment career from his appearance on X Factor before being diagnosed with cancer.
10 TV Ratings
The Sunday Project had 283,000 (6:3 pm) and 451,000 (7pm) as the show covered a break through treatment for Covid-19 as well as new restrictions in NSW, the panel also spoke to the famed creator of Hamilton and In the Heights, Lin-Manuel Miranda.
On MasterChef 617,000 watched as Aaron’s nerves hit boiling point, costing him a top 10 spot in the competition.
In the elimination challenge, the contestants were presented with a challenge by guest chef Nick Holloway from Nu Nu in Palm Cove.
In round one, the contestants competed in a classic taste test, naming the ingredients from an entrée, main and dessert from Nu Nu’s menu. Scott, Depinder, Aaron, Minoli and Pete had the lowest scores and were sent into round two where they had to cook a dish using only the 50 ingredients featured in Nick’s dishes.
Aaron was eliminated from the MasterChef kitchen. after coconut fried prawns with lime mayonnaise were clearly the result of his nerves, and having plated up a dish that didn’t match up to his fellow contestants.

Spicks and Specks had a healthy 554,000 as a strong lead in to the second episode of the final season of Jack Irish which had 438,000, down from its launch of 521,000.
SBS TV Ratings
SBS went big last night with a documentary of Andre the Giant bringing in 104,000.
