• Final night of first week of Australian Open puts Seven well ahead
The Australian Open tennis on Seven and the fourth of the five-match ODI series between Australia and Pakistan on Nine drew similar-sized audiences last night in metro markets.
However, Seven was a big winner on the night with a metro share of 28.6%, well ahead of Nine’s 21.4%. The late night numbers helped push Seven’s share higher with the two networks locked closer together earlier in the evening.
This week’s summer survey will be dominated by the Australian Open on Seven, one more ODI on Nine and three Big Bash League finals on TEN.
We will then be into two warm-up weeks with networks unveiling their big 7.30pm reality formats and a handful of other new shows before survey proper gets under way on February 12.
ABC had three programs in the top 10 last night with ABC News over 600,000. The third of the three-part Living In Suburbia Grand Designs special was just under 500,000.
TEN News made it into the top 10 with Family Feud and its their two movies both finding a spot in the top 20.
Two shows on SBS had audiences just over 200,000 which earned a spot in the top 20 – Treasures Decoded and Egyptian Vice.
