The Beijing Winter Olympics has finally kicked off in full flight as Seven has aired its first full day of coverage. And while the numbers aren’t as high as the Summer Games last year, Seven should be happy with the early returns so far:
Beijing Winter Olympics Day 1:
Day: 406,000 (285,000 metro, 121,000 regional)
Afternoon: 626,000 (440,000 metro, 186,000 regional)
Evening: 889,000 (612,000 metro, 277,000 regional
Night: 841,000 (615,000 metro, 226 regional)
Late: 693,000 (543,000 metro, 150 regional)
The result saw Seven claim the #1 primary channel (32.2%) and network (40.2%) for the second consecutive day, but the true test will come this evening when Nine and 10 roll out their prime time franchises.
On Nine, the big-budget action film The Magnificent Seven followed A Current Affair (496,000) with 254,000 viewers.
On 10, the Melbourne Victory defeated the Central Coast Mariners for the FFA Cup 2-1. The match had 110,000 viewers.
On the ABC, Death in Paradise had 536,000 viewers before All Creatures Great and Small had 410,000.
The top non-news program on SBS was Great Escapes with Morgan Freeman which had 121,000 viewers.
STV
The AFLW had crowds of 25,000 and 23,000 on Fox Footy as Melbourne took on the Gold Coast and Collingwood faced Brisbane.
