• Seven wins the night as Comm Games continue to dominate
• Shaun Micallef fans aren’t mad as hell that he continues to pull double duty

Seven’s Home and Away has topped entertainment for the night, lifting 23% to bring 874,000 to Summer Bay. Fellow soap Neighbours saw its penultimate episode lift 40% on Channel 10, bringing in 340,000 viewers.
On the ABC, the season final of Gruen took 870,000 on a trip back to look at the best, worst, and weirdest ads of the year (so far), lifting 20%. Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell brought back the Kraken for 843,000, up 25%. Aftertaste rounded out the night, lifting 43% for a total audience of 360,000.
On Nine, Beauty and the Geek brought 812,000 along as the pairs visited the other’s house, lifting 26%.
Overnight TV Ratings, August 3
Seven has continued its golden winning streak that has continued throughout the Commonwealth Games after the broadcaster yet again secured both the #1 primary channel (28.3%) and network (37.3%) shares. As hinted above, the driving force of this win was the Comm Games which had audiences of:
Night: 713,000
Evening: 610,000
Late Night: 340,000
The highlight of the day was Ariarne Titmus and the women’s 4 x 100m medley relay team adding to Australia’s gold medal count in the pool which ended with 25 gold, 21 silver and 19 bronze medals across all of the events.
On Nine, Beauty and the Geek Australia concluded its second (rebooted) season in front of an average of 478,000 viewers, with 537,000 tuning in for the winner announcement. The episode saw Train driver Geek, Aaron, and Beauty, Karly, announced as the winners of the show, taking home $100,000 between them. The final decision was made by their peers and friends. The group unanimously decided that Karly and Aaron were the most deserving winners of Beauty and the Geek 2022.
A repeat of Travel Guides then took 322,000 viewers to the Philippines.
On 10, The Project had 254,000 (6:30pm) and 312,000 (7:00pm) as the program talked about the federal government’s climate change plan receiving support from the Greens. Shaun Micallef’s Brain Eisteddfod then had 270,000 viewers tune in before 10 gave viewers a taste of life on Paramount+ by showing popular US comedy Ghosts in the 8:30 slot, with 150,000 tuning in.
On the ABC, comedy was king as Win the Week returned with 324,000 viewers before Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell had 453,000, Aftertaste then had 190,000 tune in at 9:00pm.
The top program on SBS was New York: The City That Never Sleeps with 144,000.
