Former NRL star Paul Gallen will go head-to-head against Australian champion Justis Huni in a huge heavyweight boxing clash on Wednesday, June 16 at Aware Super Theatre at the ICC Exhibition Centre in Sydney.
Boxing fans will have better access to all of the action than ever before, with Main Event showcasing the fight on both Foxtel and Kayo.
Gallen returns after a successful win against UFC superstar Mark Hunt and most recently a KO in the first round against former world champion Lucas Browne. After the last match, Browne denied the fight was fixed but his performance saw boxing commentators, including Barry Michael, going to far as to tell him to quit due to the speed with which he was taken out of the match by Gallen.
The 42-year-old was humiliated by Gallen in a first round knockout, in a match that lasted just 1min and 55secs. This was even though the betting odds going into the match put Gallen as a $2.50 outsider to beat Browne ($1.51), with Browne at $2.50 to knock-out Gallen and Gallen at $6.00 to inflict a KO or TKO on Browne.
The former Cronulla Sharks skipper, has so far had an impressive boxing track record since making the code-switch. He currently has an undefeated boxing record of 11-0-1, with six of those wins coming via knockout.
On Wednesday night, Gallen makes his return to the ring taking on 22-year-old Huni.
His opponent, Australian heavyweight champion Justis Huni is one of the country’s most exciting prospects and will be looking to seal a win in this bout to create a name for himself on the world stage as he heads into the 2021 Tokyo Olympics later this year.
