ANZAC Day marks one of the biggest moments in the AFL fixture calendar, as the Seven Network gears up to broadcast the iconic clash between Collingwood and Essendon.
Now in its 30th year, the annual match sees two of the league’s powerhouse clubs honour the ANZAC legacy at the MCG in front of a packed crowd. The commemorative fixture pays tribute to the Australians and New Zealanders who served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping missions, especially those who landed at Gallipoli on 25 April, 1915.
Coverage kicks off at 2pm AEST with the full pre-game ceremony, including the traditional moment of silence and motorcade. Match coverage begins from 3pm, live on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport.
The ANZAC Day football action will continue into the evening, with Fremantle facing off against the Adelaide Crows from 7pm AEST, also live and free across Seven’s platforms.
Leading the broadcast is Seven’s premier AFL commentary team, including Bruce McAvaney, Brian Taylor, James Brayshaw, Matthew Richardson and Abbey Holmes, with former Collingwood great Dale “Daisy” Thomas also joining the coverage.
“There are few more meaningful football moments than when Collingwood and Essendon run out together for the ANZAC Day match,” said Seven Network Director of Sport, Chris Jones.
“The game has become one of the AFL’s most respected traditions, on a day when Australians young and old pause to give thanks to the men and women who have served – and continue to serve – our country so bravely.”
