• New case and new cast with Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughan
On Monday June 22 Foxtel’s second season of True Detective will debut with a new case and new cast on Showcase.
A sophisticated, adult drama and a breakout hit for HBO, the first season won critical and audience praise for its compelling storyline and award-winning performances by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
Created and written by Nic Pizzolatto, with executive producers, Nic Pizzolatto, Steve Golin and Scott Stephens and producer Aida Rodgers, season two will feature a complex, twisting plot, playing out both across the state, and in the seedy netherworld of Vinci, a fictional city in LA County.
A bizarre murder brings together three law- enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in order to reach the truth and find salvation in the scorched wilderness of California.
Colin Farrell is Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective in the all-industrial city of Vinci, in LA County.
Vince Vaughn is Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his life’s work when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of his business partner; while his ally in negotiating the corruption around him, his wife Jordan (Kelly Reilly), struggles with his choices and her own.
Rachel McAdams is Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective often at odds with the system she serves. And Taylor Kitsch plays Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle cop for the California Highway Patrol whose leave of absence in the midst of a scandal gets a reprieve when he discovers a crime scene which triggers an investigation involving three law enforcement groups, multiple criminal collusions, and billions of dollars.
Also in the cast is Sydney-born former Aussie pop star Rick Springfield as Dr Pitlor.
True Detective season two will screen from Monday, June 22 at 3.30pm express and 7.30pm primetime encore only on Foxtel’s Showcase.
