Today the Brave has appointed Laura Mahony to the newly created role of managing director.

Mahony joins the independent agency from Havas Host, where she led client experience and managed client relationships and teams across several major accounts.

She will work alongside founder and CEO Jaimes Leggett and Today the Brave’s leadership team, with responsibility for day-to-day operations, people and client partnerships.

Mahony’s previous work includes leading IKEA’s launch into New Zealand, developing an Australian Federal Police recruitment campaign through a true-crime podcast and creating Fiji Airways’ first sonic brand identity.

Leggett said the appointment was an important step for the agency.

“Three years ago we started Today the Brave with a very clear idea of the kind of agency we wanted to build. Independence gave us the freedom to make different choices - about the people we hire, the clients we partner with, the work we pursue and the culture we create.

“We want Today the Brave to be the best place our people have ever worked. That means hiring brilliant people, creating an environment where they can thrive, partnering with ambitious clients and giving everyone the opportunity to do the best work of their careers.

“Laura brings exactly the passion, drive and entrepreneurial spirit that has shaped this place from day one. She’s brilliant with clients, brilliant with people and understands what it takes to make an agency work. We’re incredibly excited to have her help shape what comes next.”

Newly created leadership role

Mahony said: “There’s an energy around Today the Brave that’s hard to miss. It has the ambition and momentum of a growing agency, but also a very clear sense of what it wants to protect as it grows.

“That independent spirit really appealed to me. The willingness to back people, make brave choices and build the agency around what’s right rather than what’s conventional. There’s a brilliant foundation here, and I’m looking forward to helping shape the next chapter.”

The appointment follows new business wins and growth across Today the Brave’s creative, media, social, public relations, shopper and experiential services.
