Foxtel today confirmed that the new HBO series Westworld will air on Foxtel's showcase channel simulcast with the US broadcast.
Launching on Monday 3 October, daytime showcase viewers can watch the show at 12pm AEDST, with a prime-time encore scheduled that night at 8:30pm.
Based on the Michael Crichton film of the same name, Westworld stars Anthony Hopkins, Thandie Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Rachel Evan Wood, and James Marsden. The first 10-episode season of the show is showrun by The Dark Knight scribe and Person of Interest showrunner Jonathan Nolan with Burn Notice producer Lisa Joy.
The series plot follows that of the original film about a western-themed amusement in the future staffed by robots that malfunction and begin killing visitors. Taking the idea further, the show explores the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin, exploring a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.
Following the broadcast of the show, Westworld will also be available on catch-up service Foxtel Anytime.
