• Includes five TV premieres, box office hits and all 236 episodes of Friends
• iZombie S1 to premiere in August, S2 fast-tracked to Stan in October
Stan and Warner Bros. International Television Distribution have announced an exclusive multiyear licensing agreement that will add hundreds of hours of content to the streaming service – including five first-run TV shows, blockbuster movies, popular catalogue titles and the entire 10 seasons of Friends.
New shows premiering exclusively on Stan in August include iZombie, the hit drama from the creator of Veronica Mars, Constantine, based on the popular DC Comics character, and season three of psychological thriller The Following, starring Kevin Bacon. iZombie season two will be fast-tracked to Stan in October, day and date with US broadcast.
The deal also includes exclusive SVOD rights to all 236 episodes of one of the world’s most iconic and best loved comedy series, Friends. With every episode available in remastered HD, could there be another TV show more perfect for a marathon binge-watch? Friends fans can relive all their favourite moments from the Emmy Award-winning series: every break-up, make-up and “How you doing?” when Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Joey, Monica and Phoebe join Stan in October.
In announcing the deal Nick Forward, Stan’s content and product director, said: “Our partnership with Warner Bros. is the most significant since launch in terms of bringing outstanding, exclusive premiere shows and some of the most popular TV series of all time to Stan.
“By adding hundreds of hours of new content to Stan’s lineup, the deal further cements our position as the SVOD service with the highest quality and largest library of content in Australia.”
Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, president, Warner Bros Worldwide Television Distribution, said: “We’re very pleased that customers of Stan will have access to these great new and classic serialised television programs – perfectly suited for watching single episodes or bingeing over time – as well as a slate of audience-favourite blockbuster films.”
Also exclusively premiering on Stan later in the year will be comedy series Selfie, starring Karen Gillan (Dr Who), and relationship comedy A to Z, starring Ben Feldman (Mad Men) and Cristin Milioti (How I Met Your Mother). Hit TV series The Flash, The Last Ship, Hart of Dixie and Forever will also be coming to Stan as SVOD exclusives.
In addition to the outstanding lineup of TV series, the deal includes a selection of box office hits as well as recent catalogue TV series, including all seven seasons of multi-award-winning The West Wing, every episode of the hugely popular The OC, Sex & The City spinoff The Carrie Diaries, J.J. Abram’s Fringe and Rebel Wilson’s Super Fun Night.
Titles will be available to watch instantly, in up to full HD, on multiple platforms including television, tablets, computers and mobile phones.
