AFL: Swans get through in a thriller as Carlton and Bulldogs don’t make it past first weekend

Two games of AFL to finish the first weekend of finals.

The Swans came from behind in the final moments of the game and held on to win over GWS Giants. The Total TV Reach was 1,852,000 with a Total TV National Average of 683,000. It ranked #3 in reach on Saturday, or fourth in national average audience.

The Saturday night AFL clash was generally another one-sided affair with Brisbane Lions too strong for Carlton. The score was 60–0 just before half time which wouldn’t have encouraged some to stay the distance. The Total TV Reach was 2,383,000 with a Total TV National Audience of 855,000. Both metrics ranked the game #1 for Saturday.

Nine’s Saturday night NRL clash featured Panthers against Titans with a Total TV Reach of 914,000 and a Total TV National Average of 356,000.

On the final weekend of Paralympics competition, the Day 10 action screened on Saturday night had a Total TV Reach of 778,000 with a Total TV National Average of 241,000.

AFL: The second of four clashes in the AFL Final Series was the only game in Melbourne. The MCG looked packed and the crowd figure was 97,828. Figures for Seven’s coverage were 2,434,000 Total TV Reach with 954,000 Total TV Average.
The Pre Game coverage had a Total TV Average of 584,000 and the Post Game was on 330,000.

NRL: The Rabbitohs v Roosters game at Accor was the Roosters win. The Total TV Reach was 1,146,000 with a Total TV Average of 444,000 (389,000 broadcast, 55,000 BVOD).

Paralympics: The Day 8 coverage had Total TV Reach of 686,000 and a Total TV Average of 187,000 (177,000 broadcast, 10,000 BVOD).

US Open: Day 11 Total TV Reach 295,000 with Total TV Average of 62,000 (55,000 broadcast, 7,000 BVOD).

The first weekend of AFL Finals started with a one-sided affair as Geelong travelled to Adelaide and comprehensively downed Port Adelaide.
The match made Seven a clear winner on Thursday night.

AFL: In the Total TV rankings Thursday Night Football Finals ranked #1 with a reach of 2,061,000. The total average audience was 773,000 across Australia. Seven has no digital rights until next year for its games so there is no BVOD figure.

AFL Post Game dips for one-sided clash

Seven’s AFL Post Game can be a magnet for viewers if the result is close. But the blowout result that saw Geelong win by 84 points meant many didn’t bother.
The post-game Total TV reach was still healthy with 549,000 and a Total TV average audience of 317,000 (313,000 broadcast, 3,000 BVOD).
Seven’s Pre Game was carried on 7mate in most markets and didn’t make the data Mediaweek has access to.

NRL: It was a night full of sports activity. The next biggest crowd was for the last Thursday Night NRL match and the final round before the Final Series. The convincing Storm win during a Brisbane road trip had 1,548,000 reach and a Total TV average audience of 549,000 (480,000 broadcast, 69,000 BVOD).

Football: The Socceroos clash with Bahrain on 10 had an audience 633,000 reach. The total average audience was 179,000 (163,000 broadcast, 16,000 BVOD).

Paralympics: Late night coverage of competition on Day 8 of the Paralympics had total TV audience of 603,00 reach. The Total TV audience was 172,000 (157,000 broadcast, 16,000 BVOD).

US Open: But wait there was even more sport – Nine’s coverage of Day 10 of the US Open Total TV Reach of 426,000 and Total TV average audience of 70,000 (62,000 broadcast, 80,000 BVOD).
