• Optus is yet to reveal who will replace Dimopoulos

Optus’ executive head of streaming television and content, Corin Dimopoulos, announced his departure from the company after seven years.

Dimopoulos first joined the telecommunications company in 2015 as CMO before moving up to his most recent role in 2017.

In his role, he developed Optus’ content offering across entertainment and music and built strategic partnerships with major global brands including Netflix, Apple, Amazon, Premier League, FIFA and UEFA.

Optus is yet to reveal who will replace Dimopoulos, but in the meantime, VP of content and product development Clive Dickens will lead the Optus content strategy, as well as Optus Sport and Subhub.

Commenting on his departure from the company, Dimopoulos wrote on LinkedIn: “After 7 years, today is my last day at Optus. Thank you to everyone who provided the opportunity to break things, launch things, break things (again), and do good things.

“I joined in 2015 as Head of Marketing, rebranding the company, introducing Usain Bolt, Mark Wahlberg and Idris Elba to the market; through to Fetch, SubHub, and Optus Sport – a dinky little streaming service with content only during unsociable hours that stood no chance but now has over one million loyal subscribers and a robust and exciting future.

“Mostly I clumsily broke things. Mostly better people around me quietly and unselfishly fixed them. Favourite moment? Without doubt doing Mark Wahlberg’s deal with Ari Emanuel. As in THE Ari Gold. And the Euro20(21) Final. Live streaming content is the new Friday Night. Who knew!?” he added.

An Optus spokesperson said of Dimopoulos: “Corin has been instrumental in delivering key content for Optus Sport including the English Premier League renewal to 2028, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, and the record breaking Euro2020 championship.

“We wish Corin the best in his next endeavour and thank him for driving Optus Sport’s active subscriber base to 1 million,” they added.
