“I’m thrilled to be taking on this larger role within the agency”

Octagon has announced the promotion of Joanne Warnes to Managing Director, APAC.

Warnes will report directly to Octagon Sports & Entertainment Network CEO, John Shea.

In her new role, Warnes will expand her purview within the agency to lead all regional creative, planning, strategy, sponsorship activation, integrated marketing, corporate consulting, client services, and production efforts across APAC.

As part of the promotion at the global creative agency in sport and entertainment, Warnes will also join Octagon’s global senior leadership team.

Previously Octagon’s managing director of Southeast Asia and India, Warnes oversaw all of Octagon’s operations and new business programs throughout Singapore and India, including oversight of the agency’s key clients such as Mastercard and Standard Chartered.

Shea said: “Joanne has played a significant role in the continued growth and development of Octagon throughout the Asia-Pacific territory over the past four years. Her knowledge working with high-profile brands in the region, and experience creating internationally revered campaigns, make her an important asset to our team and our clients.

“APAC will be a continued area of focus over the next decade, as the world prepares for a number of global sports events being held in the region. We are excited to have Joanne at the helm leading our collective efforts,” he added.

Warnes said of her new role: “I am incredibly proud of the work we have done at Octagon across the Asia-Pacific region, and I’m thrilled to be taking on this larger role within the agency.

“There is no better or more exciting time to work with brands on their strategy and planning efforts in the territory, as the world turns to APAC for some of the biggest moments across sports, entertainment, and culture.”

Since joining Octagon in 2018, Warnes has played a pivotal role in creating and launching many prominent campaigns for some of the world’s largest sports event sponsors, including helping steward Coca-Cola’s global activations leading up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as well as Mastercard’s marketing efforts surrounding the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Prior to joining Octagon, Warnes served as chief operating officer, UK, at Havas Sport and Entertainment.
