Nine‘s Pedestrian.TV has announced that Matthew Galea has been promoted to managing editor of the publication.
Galea has been with the publication since 2018, originally joining as entertainment editor.
Writing about the news on socials on Monday, Galea said that he was “Excited to announce that as of today I’ve stepped into the role of Managing Editor at Pedestrian.TV. This will be my fifth year with the company and I’m pretty bloody pumped for this next chapter. Hope you’re all having a killer 2023 so far.”
The news comes after a big 2022 for the publication, with Pedestrian Group publisher Vanessa Lawrence leaving the company after six years when she was named chief content officer of Linkby. Lawrence left for New York to join the Linkby office in October.
At the time, Lawrence said that: “While I’m going to miss Pedestrian Group terribly, I’m excited to once again work closely with Chris – and the wider Linkby team – to foster relationships between premium brands and some of the world’s biggest digital publishers in a way that benefits their audiences as much as the bottom line. I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

In December, Pedestrian Group promoted Rachel Tikey into the newly created role of chief commercial officer.
The new position has seen Tikey lead expansion into new markets and launch new products; including web3 vertical The Chainsaw and other products in development with parent company, Nine.
