The Independent Media Agencies Australia (IMAA) hosted an event for the Queensland independent media agency market and its media partners.
The ‘Christmas in July’ themed event saw more than 70 people don their best Chrissie jumpers and festive attire.
Agencies and media owners attended from all over the state were present at the shindig, from far as Townsville down to the Gold Coast, from the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane, and as far as Melbourne.
The IMAA also partnered with SCA (Southern Cross Austereo) to sponsor the Best Dressed award.
Taking home some of the prizes include Jenna Nies (director, JCN Media) and Riccardo Morelli (digital media lead, BCM Group).
Sam Buchanan, IMAA CEO, shared photos of the event on his LinkedIn, he wrote in the caption of the piece: “What an incredible night and a tribute to the striving indie QLD community! Thank you to all members and partners for being part of the fun.”
The IMAA’s Christmas in July event comes after industry body recently called on the Queensland Government to better support Australian small businesses.
The industry body has asked the state government to put Queensland first by working towards a minimum of 35% of annual state Government advertising spend to go through local and independent media agencies.
The IMAA has opened discussions with the Queensland Government on how to translate progressive policy and commitments into positive outcomes for independent media agencies. A significant percentage of IMAA member agencies are locally owned and operated and provide a critical voice for our community.
