My favourite cover of the year is the Choc Mousse & Sticky Date Trifle, December 2017.
This is the 12th Christmas cover I’ve done with our genius food director, Michelle Southan. We both agree that this is the best “Chrissie” cover we’ve ever done. It has everything we look for: that iconic recipe everyone craves (at Christmas, that’s always trifle), a never-seen-before twist, and the hypervisual X-factor.
I love how Michelle has managed to sneak so many other festive faves into the trifle like choc mousse, sticky date pudding, lashings of caramel and a wild toffee nest. All this is topped off by flawless execution by photographer Jeremy Simons and stylist Michelle Noerianto. Not surprisingly, the issue is going gangbusters.
