CJZ Group has appointed Claire Tonkin to head up drama development.
Tonkin has held the position of network drama executive at Ten Network for the past decade, during which time she has climbed the ranks to become network executive producer for Neighbours and helped oversee the development and production of dramas including Offspring, Puberty Blues, Rush, The Wrong Girl, Bikie Wars: Brothers In Arms, Underground – The Julian Assange Story, Hawke, Secrets & Lies, Mr & Mrs Murder, A Model Daughter, Reef Doctors, Wonderland, Mary: The Making Of A Princess, Party Tricks and Brock.
Tonkin joins CJZ as it has multiple series currently in funded development for local and overseas networks. Last year CJZ produced The Ex-PM with Shaun Micallef for ABC, Nine’s No.1 ratings success House Of Hancock starring Mandy McElhinney, Peta Sergeant and Sam Neill. CJZ is currently delivering House Of Bond starring Rachel Taylor, Adrienne Pickering and Ben Mingay to the Nine Network.
Screen Producers Australia last week announced CJZ as Production Business of the Year as the Screen Producers 2016 Awards.
The New Zealand arm of the group, Greenstone, produced Cul De Sac for TVNZ and is currently shooting a second series.
Tonkin will commence work at CJZ’s Sydney office in January 2017.
