Despite the New Years Day new releases, Spider-Man: No Way Home refuses to slow down with the film #1 for the third straight week as it moves up the all-time rankings of the Australian Box Office. The film now sits at #6 in the rankings after making $58.28m to date.
Two new releases made the top five this week with Ghostbusters: Afterlife coming in at #3 with $2.25m and House of Gucci following at #5 with $1.46m. Clifford the Big Red Dog narrowly missed out on the top five, coming in at #6 with $839,513.
The films to make way in the top five this week were Dune which has made $13.42m over five weeks, and the foreign language film ’83 which has made $1.20m over two weeks.
The Australian box office was up a robust 39% week on week after making $17.28m.
#1 Spider-Man: No Way Home $6.08m
Spider-Man No Way Home continues to have a comfortable lead following the weekend after it averaged $11,144 on 546 screens.
#2 Sing 2 $2.44m
The Illumination Entertainment film has moved up to #2 after its full weekend of release where it averaged $6,270 on 390 screens. Its total now sits at $7.50m.
#3 Ghostbusters: Afterlife $2.25m
Ghostbusters: Afterlife was the top new release over the weekend after making an average of $6,644,000 on 339 screens.
#4 The Matrix Ressurections $1.51m
In its second week of release, the latest entry in The Matrix franchise has slipped to #4 after averaging $3,972 on 382 screens which has brought its total to $5.16m.
#5 House of Gucci
The biopic starring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver scrapped into the top five in its first week of release after averaging $5,786 on 254 screens.
