Boomtown has announced its latest round of regional media masterclasses for 2021, as planning gets underway for its 2022 education series.

The national education initiative, which kicked off in 2020, is designed to provide media professionals with a better understanding of the regional media landscape and a competitive advantage for brands, along with tools to help plan and buy regional advertising.

This year’s program has been highly successful, offering training to nearly 260 industry executives, and exceeding attendee targets by 72%, with an average attendee score of 9.3 out of 10.

Two 90-minute webinars will run in October: one in partnership with the Media Federation of Australia and NGEN Plus on 14 October, followed by an ‘all in’ session for the broader industry on 21 October. Both will feature an expert panel of senior marketers, media agency heads and media owners.

The 2022 education program will feature a mix of webinars and face-to-face training. Boomtown will also host bespoke masterclasses for marketers and agencies, with content tailored to their specific challenges and opportunities.

Marketing expert, Gaye Steel, will again facilitate the courses, sharing her extensive knowledge with participants.

Boomtown Chairman and SCA chief sales officer, Brian Gallagher, said the education series has proved a hit with media agencies across the country.

“The Boomtown collective is committed to offering education opportunities for our industry executives, particularly those who are starting out on their career journeys. We’ve teamed up with some of the nation’s leading media owners and agency heads to offer first-hand knowledge and experience about the industry, giving agencies a sound understanding of the regional media landscape. Despite the challenges of 2021, our education program has been extremely successful, with hundreds of executives joining the ‘Boomtown alumni’ and gaining real-world insights to drive awareness of the opportunities regional markets bring to brands,” he said.

MFA CEO, Sophie Madden, said: “NGENers are always seeking new information and the chance to upskill in order to create the best solutions for their clients.  Boomtown is a great initiative that demonstrates the opportunities that exist in regional Australia for brands and we are excited to continue our partnership in 2022.”

Involved Media managing director and 2021 Masterclass panellist, Sarah Keith, said: “We are really happy to support this outstanding initiative from the Boomtown team as the value of non-metro audiences continues to grow.  A complete and in-depth understanding has become even more important over the last 18 months as COVID changed the way we work, commuted and stayed hyper local. Ensuring that all our clients and the teams that create media strategy are fully across the channels, demographics, insights and tools to access these audiences is core to the Boomtown Masterclasses.”

Boomtown Alumni and former Universal McCann Partnerships Manager, Ashley Maloney, said: “Regional media is an untapped market. The Masterclass changed the way I planned and bought regional media and it’ll change yours too.”

The final 2021 online masterclasses will run on Thursday, October 14 (available to NGEN Plus members) and October 21 (industry-wide).
