HBO announced today Australian actor Milly Alcock has been cast in a recurring role in the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon.
Alcock has been cast as the young version of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the king’s first-born child, “a child of pure Valyrian blood and a dragonrider. Many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything, but she was not born a man.”
Milly Alcock is one of Australia’s most exciting young actors, who starred as a co-lead with Tim Minchin in the critically acclaimed Foxtel Original drama series Upright, for which she received an AACTA nomination for Best Comedy Performer. Her other credits include The Gloaming, Roadshow Rough Diamond, Les Norton, Pine Gap, Reckoning, Janet King, Wonderland and A Place to Call Home.
Also announced today was the casting of British actor Emily Carey, who will play the young Alicent Hightower. Alcock and Carey join already announced cast Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, Oliva Cooke as Alicent Hightower and Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower.
House of the Dragon is currently in production and will premiere on Foxtel in 2022.
In April, Foxtel celebrated the 10 year anniversary of Game of Thrones. In celebration of this milestone – and as fans anticipate the upcoming prequel House Of The Dragon – Foxtel transported viewers back to the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros with every episode of Game of Thrones available to watch on demand on Foxtel.
Also airing was the Game of Thrones Reunion, filmed during the creation of Game of Thrones Season 8 and hosted by Conan O’Brien. The anniversary marked the first time that the reunion was made available to watch in Australia.
All eight seasons of Game of Thrones are available to watch On Demand on Foxtel.
