WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda have joined forces with Glenorie Bakery to lend their support to the Sydney Sick Kids Appeal. The initiative aims to raise funds and express gratitude to the healthcare workers at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation reached out to Jonesy & Amanda as part of their “In a JAM” segment, where the radio hosts utilise their collective powers to make a positive impact in the community. The request was to cater the Sydney Sick Kids Day, a special event scheduled for this Thursday, June 22 at both hospitals.
As long-time supporters of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, Jonesy & Amanda have not only helped raise essential funds for the Sydney Sick Kids Appeal, but have also collaborated with them on several successful projects in the past. Notable achievements include renovating the Volunteer’s Room at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick with the assistance of Barry du Bois, providing 12 months’ worth of coffees and car parks, and supporting a part-time musical therapist.
After Jonesy & Amanda put the call out on air for catering assistance, Glenorie Bakery eagerly stepped up to the plate. Their generosity will help provide lunch for the day for approximately 1,500 children, families, and hospital staff across both locations to enjoy.
“We are big fans and supporters of the Sydney Sick Kids Appeal,” shared Jonesy & Amanda. “We are excited to be a part of this incredible initiative and have the opportunity to give back to the people who do so much for it. And who doesn’t love a pie?”
Glenorie Bakery’s assistance will tie in with their annual Pie of Origin fundraising campaign, which has been running successfully alongside the State of Origin for the past 11 years and has raised over $150,000 for various causes. This year, as the NSW Blues and Queensland Maroons battle it out on the field, Glenorie Bakery will be donating $1 from every pie sold directly to Sydney Sick Kids Appeal.
Rob Pirina from Glenorie Bakery added: “Glenorie Bakery is so excited to be partnering with WSFM to help raise funds for the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation. With Pie of Origin in its 11th year, we’re just so proud of what the humble Aussie meat pie has been able to achieve.”
