Women’s Health Australia has won a major partnership with FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Gracing the cover of the October issue of Women’s Health Australia is rising star of the Australian Opals, Ezi Magbegor.
The issue, in partnership with the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, is a celebration of the World Cup coming to Sydney this September.
The issue is the culmination of a three-month campaign where Women’s Health was exclusively chosen to tell the stories of 12 different athletes from the 12 countries competing in the World Cup.
The content partnership also included a dedicated hub on the Women’s Health website, which includes the 12-article content series, three videos, basketball-themed fashion shoot, competition, plus four podcast episodes.
Lizza Gebilagin, Women’s Health editor-in-chief, said: “It’s an honour to partner with FIBA to create content that not only captures the excitement of the Women’s Basketball World Cup but also helps elevate the players and gives them the recognition they deserve.
“At Women’s Health, supporting female athletes is all part of our year-long Women in Sport (WinS) initiative. Because the goal is that one day, the name Ezi Magbegor is as well-known as Patty Mills.”
Cover star Magbegor is currently in WNBA playoffs and will return to Australia in October for the World Cup as part of the Opals broadcasted by ESPN.
Magbegor, who is Women’s Health cover star and ambassador for the World Cup, said: “I’ve never really done anything like his before, I had an awesome day with Higgsy (photographer, David Higgs) and the team.
“It was so much fun to step out of my comfort zone, a photoshoot is very different to a basketball stadium.
“With the FIBA Women’s World Cup just around the corner, I love that we will showcase the best-of-the-best in our sport on home soil and in front of our family and friends,” she added.
Women’s Health and FIBA have also teamed up for a spectacular giveaway for two lucky people to win a weekend away (or staycation) in Sydney, including flights, 3 nights’ accommodation and tickets to four Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 games for themselves and a friend.
