The final AFL match of 2021 is the only game Seven has exclusively live and it delivered on all fronts.

Favourites Melbourne got away to a strong start in the first quarter before the Bulldogs fought back to lead at half time. The Bulldogs looked like they were going to steal the game as they led by 19 points in the third quarter. The Demons had other ideas and a stunning 93-point turnaround with 17 goals in one-and-a-half-quarters resulted in a Demon 74-point win. Just look at these numbers:

Seven network primary share: 61.9%
Sydney 36.1%, Melbourne 80.6%, Brisbane 36.3%, Adelaide 63.3%, Perth 66.0%.

The metro Grand Final audience was 3,006,000 with the following splits:
Sydney 395,000
Melbourne 1,636,000
Brisbane 214,000
Adelaide 278,000
Perth 483,000

Nine

The second NRL Preliminary Final screened late afternoon with 810,000 watching Penrith hang on in a low scoring game. The Storm were just unable to score when it mattered in the second half, with Penrith doing enough to secure a place in the Grand Final against South Sydney next weekend.

Rugby Australia wasn’t daunted by a Saturday night AFL Grand Final and proceeded with the Wallabies v Argentina clash. The audience was 269,000 which is a good result considering the viewing alternatives.

It was a tough night to draw an audience with the channel up against live sport on Seven and Nine.

Bondi Rescue was on 102,000, The Dog House did 178,000 followed by two UK episodes of Ambulance with audiences of 145,000 and 122,000.

ABC

The familiar Saturday night line-up saw 234,000 watching The Durrells and then 143,000 staying on for The Trial of Christine Keeler.

SBS

The Battle of Britain had 123,000 watching at 7.30pm.
