Overnight TV ratings: Seven
Seven News reversed the recent weekend TV ratings trend as it slipped just ahead of Nine News. There was not a lot in it though with a gap of just 4,000 viewers separating the first and second Saturday TV shows.
Seven’s coverage of the Women’s Big Bash League final had a metro audience of 228,000 with over 70,000 both in Sydney and Melbourne. Perth Scorchers got a good score on the board and they were able to defend it.
Nine
Nine News was a winner in each east coast mainland capital and wasn’t far behind in Adelaide.
The Saturday edition of A Current Affair was again close to 550,000, narrowly behind only ABC’s 7pm News.
Nine screened the Tom Cruise movie Top Gun in Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide to 217,000. Sydney and Perth audiences got the movie Love Act.
10
It was a big football day at 10.
An audience of 164,000 were watching the Matildas take on the USA. The biggest audience was the 85,000 watching in Sydney with less than 30,000 in other metro markets and just 5,000 in Adelaide.
The audience for the round two A-League match between Melbourne City and Adelaide was 88,000 with 15,000 in Melbourne, but over 20,000 in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. The crowd watching the second successive draw for 10’s Saturday coverage compares to 102,000 last week.
ABC
Retro UK drama night continued with different series this week. One 50s UK drama has been replaced by another. Grantchester has made way for The Larkins, the latter a look at life in 1950s Kent. The first of six episodes had an audience of 388,000, down from the final episode of Grantchester’s 475,000.
Ridley Road meanwhile looks at opposition to British fascism in London in the 60s had an audience of 205,000 for the penultimate episode.
Earlier in the day a new episode of Bluey had a morning audience of 452,000 in metro markets and another 110,000 in regional Australia.
SBS
The first half of SBS World News and the start of The World’s Greatest Hotels shared the biggest SBS audience with both pulling 134,000.
