TV ratings: Seven
Seven again had the edge in the TV ratings on the final Saturday of the AFL home and away rounds. It was a day of amazing results starting with Richmond recovering to score an improbable draw with Hawthorn, a game exclusive to Fox Footy.
Seven got to broadcast the Brisbane v West Coast match into Brisbane and Perth with 57,000 in the Queensland capital and 126,000 watching what was the day’s most-watched program in Perth.
In the evening the game of the round was the Geelong v Melbourne clash. An audience of 488,000 saw Geelong build what looked like a game-winning lead in the second quarter and then maintain it in the third quarter. Melbourne managed to find something extra in the final quarter with captain Max Gawn slotting the game-winning goal after the final siren sounded. The winners were also Seven and Fox Footy, plus the few brave souls who might have piled onto the Demons at halftime with Sportsbet who was tempting them with 17-1 odds on a recovery.
