TV ratings: Seven
Seven didn’t dominate quite as much as it did a week ago when it broadcast the Tokyo 2020 Opening Ceremony last Friday. However Seven was still the clear leader with #1 primary, #1 multichannel and a combined channel share of over 50%.
The metro audience watching competition last night, including the Matlida’s heroic win over Great Britain in women’s football, was 1.194m.
The evening session was on 923,000 with the afternoon on 869,000.
Viewers staying with the channel late saw the Opals come so close to causing a last quarter upset in the basketball – 768,000 saw the women level with China with just 8 seconds to go.
Just for once Friday Night AFL didn’t make it into the top 20. After 442,000 were watching Port v Adelaide a week ago, there were 276,000 watching Carlton topple the Saints.

Nine
Nine’s only primetime entries in the Friday TV ratings top 20 were Nine News with 940,000/829,000 followed by A Current Affair on 586,000.
Hot Seat made the rankings with its late afternoon audience on 453,000.
The Friday Night NRL match featured a Broncos triumph with 244,000 watching – 138,000 in Sydney and 91,000 in Brisbane.

10 News First at 5pm was on 382,000.
The channel’s only primetime program to crack the top 20 was the 7pm half of The Project on 338,000.
A repeat episode of The Living Room was on 234,000.
ABC
Movin’ to the Country visited Robe on the coast in South Australia with 368,000 watching.
Dream Gardens tracked an ambitious house and garden makeover in Camberwell. The focus was on the $300,000 spent on the garden, with half of that going into the pool. The audience was 346,000.
Midsomer Murders grew its audience week-on-week from 365,000 to 392,000.
SBS
SBS World News was on 142,000 at 6.30pm.
Later in the evening a repeat of I Am Jackie O was on 118,000.
