TV ratings: Seven
With Tokyo 2020 now a memory, TV ratings returned to their regular winter status. That is Seven leading, but with a smaller margin than it had during three successive Olympic Friday victories.
Seven News was the only program to crack 1m with 1.05m at 6pm dropping a little to 994,000 after 6.30pm.
The Friday Night AFL saw GWS and Richmond fighting for a place in the finals. It was a one-sided affair with the Giants getting away early with Richmond never in the hunt. Subsequently the audience had no incentive to watch for the result. The audience was 489,000 with 295,000 in Melbourne.
Nine
The 6pm hour of Nine News started on 997,000 and ended with 916,000
The Friday episode of A Current Affair ended the weekday run just over 609,000 in what had been a week of strong ratings.
The NRL delivered a thriller with the Roosters snatching victory by a point over the Broncos. The NRL TV ratings audience was 351,000 with 198,000 in Sydney and 123,000 in Brisbane.
10
10 News First at 5pm again delivered the broadcaster’s biggest audience with 401,000.
The 7pm half of The Project was not far off that pace with 388,000.
A new episode of The Living Room was on 365,000.
ABC
ABC News was the third most-watched Friday program with 674,000.
Movin’ to the Country and Dream Gardens finished their short seasons last week. Costa and the Gardening Australia team returned from their mid-year break with 502,000 watching. Viewers got to visit the city garden of the show’s longest-serving contributor last night – Jane Edmondson.
The ABC seems to have shown just four of the six episodes in the latest series of Midsomer Murders, returning to a repeat episode last night. That didn’t stop a crowd of 387,000 from tuning in, but it was down on the 439,000 watching a week ago.
SBS
SBS World News started with an audience of 166,000 at 6.30pm. That dropped to 128,000 after 7pm.
The numbers then lifted to 142,000 after 7.30pm for Secrets of Egypt’s Valley of the Kings.
