Vevo has launched its first ad-supported linear TV channel in Australia, Vevo Pop, through a new partnership with Samsung TV Plus.
Having first partnered in the U.S. in 2019, and in the U.K. and Europe in early 2021, Vevo and Samsung TV Plus are extending their partnership to provide Samsung TV Plus users in Australia with linear music video programming on their connected TVs (CTV).
Vevo Pop features pop-genre music videos from global stars, such as The Weeknd (pictured), Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, as well as Australian talent, such as Tame Impala, Iggy Azalea and Sia.
“This is an exciting launch for Vevo, as we continue to grow and diversify our CTV network in Australia, going beyond a purely on-demand app offering. Now, with a new linear TV presence, we are delivering premium music videos to Australians who prefer to enjoy them in a lean-back, programmed environment. At the same time, it further expands our CTV footprint for advertisers looking to reach consumers, especially digitally native and younger demographics, in the living room at scale,” said Steve Sos, managing director, Australia and New Zealand, Vevo. “Samsung TV Plus, which is seeing its own rapid success globally, was the perfect partner for this launch.”
Vevo’s network already reaches 40% of the Australian population each month, with Vevo’s CTV viewership growing 26% year-over-year to reach nearly six million Australians each month.
“We’re thrilled to once again partner with Vevo to bring premium music videos to the growing lineup of 60+ TV channels on Samsung TV Plus, in Australia,” said Alex Spurzem, Samsung Ads. “We know that our consumers love watching music videos alongside our other programming of news, lifestyle and sport. Via the Vevo Pop channel, they will now have access 24/7 to the biggest music videos from the biggest pop artists on the largest screen in the house.”
