TV Ratings September 3, 2022: Seven enjoys another weekend win with footy finals

• Seven enjoyed a network share of 45.1% and a primary channel share of 35.9%

ABC has claimed the top spot on the total TV charts with Grantchester, reaching a total audience of 760,000 and rising by 29%.

Seven’s Border Security increased by 4% to enjoy a total audience of 580,000, followed by Nine’s Saturday Night NRL, which rose by 8% to clock 476,000 views.

Seven has experienced another strong night, winning the Saturday shares with a network share of 45.1% and a primary channel share of 35.9%. 7Mate took out the multichannel win with 5.3%, while Nine had a network share of 21.9%.

On Seven, the AFL finals continue to bode well for the network, dominating the TV ratings. The Saturday Afternoon Football Finals, which saw Geelong beat Collingwood by six points at the MCG, was the most-watched program of the day bringing in an audience of 747,000. In a later game, Fremantle experienced a 13-point elimination final victory over the Western Bulldogs to win 11.7 (73) to 8.12 (60) and reach 731,000 people, topping all the key age demos. The Saturday Night Football pre-match clocked 485,000 views, while the post-match totalled 314,000.

Nine’s top non-news program was Getaway with 215,000 viewers, followed by Saturday Night NRL with 192,000 views. 110,000 Sydney-siders tuned in to watch The Cowboys dominate the Panthers to win 38-8. Additionally, The Rugby Championships brought in a crowd of 170,000.

On ABC, a repeat of Death in Paradise was the most-watched program of the night, clocking 337,000 views. In addition, the network aired the first episode of Marriage, a UK drama about a married couple in their 50s who negotiate the insecurities, hopes and fears of a long-term intimate relationship, reaching 260,000 views.

On 10, 10 News First reached 166,000 people, while The Most Scenic Railway Journeys on SBS clocked 105,000 views.

Fox Footy has enjoyed a Saturday win, taking out the top three spots on subscription TV. The Qualifying Finals between Geelong and Collingwood came first with 365,000 views, followed by Fremantle and Western Bulldogs with 311,000 views, and finally, Super Saturday clocking 281,000 views.

Over on Fox League, the Dragons v Broncos game brought in 281,000 viewers, with NRL Super Saturday reaching an audience of 232,000.
