The Chase on Seven claimed the top spot for the most-watched non-news program on total TV reaching a total audience of 706,000 and increasing by 3%. Better Homes and Gardens came second, rising 4% to reach 679,000 people.

Baptiste on ABC had the biggest lift on overnight with 47% to reach an audience of 410,000.

Seven has dominated the Friday shares, taking a 42.3% network share and 29.5% primary share, while 7mate took the multichannel win with 7%.

Behind Seven’s success was Seven’s AFL: Friday Night Football Finals, which was the most watched program of the night, beating all the primetime news programs. 868,000 people tuned in to watch the Sydney Swans book their ticket in the AFL’s final four after taking victory against the Melbourne Demons. Sydney’s 14.7 (91) to 10.9 (69) wins mean they will host a preliminary final at the SCG for the first time since 1996. The pre-match clocked 535,000 views, while the post-match hit 479,000 views. 

A Current Affair on Nine was the most-watched program on the network bringing in 512,000 viewers, as the program exposed the convicted fraudster who spent two decades living a lie with 40 different names. Coming in second on Nine was Hot Seat totalling 373,000 views. Additionally, Friday Night NRL, which saw the Roosters win against the Rabbitohs (26-16), brought in an audience of 350,000.

ABC’s top entertainment program was Gardening Australia bringing in an audience of 332,000 as Costa Georgiadis learnt about horticulture at the zoo.

On 10, 10 News First reached 267,000 people, while the top program on SBS was Lost Treasures of Ancient Rome clocking 108,000.

Fox Footy’s coverage of the Qualifying Finals between Melbourne and Sydney won the night, bringing in 359,000 viewers. On Fox League, the match between the Rabbitohs and the Roosters brought in an audience of 282,000, while the Bulldogs v Sea Eagles game clocked 189,000. Fox Footy’s Friday Footy on Fox reached 236,000 viewers.
