Total TV Ratings, June 27

Have You Been Paying Attention lifted 24%, claiming top non-news with 986,000. Ninja Warrior also lept up the chart, lifting 24% for a total audience of 958,000.

MasterChef had 934,000 tune in, lifting 20%, with Home and Away close behind, lifting 24% for a total audience of 927,000. 

Big Brother continues to prove itself as a heavy lifter in total TV, raising 44% with 699,000 tuning in.

Nine has won the night with a primary share of 22.2% and a network share of 31.3%. Topping the multichannels was 9Gem which had a 4.3% share showing Wimbledon.

On Nine, A Current Affair covered the ongoing flood crisis in parts of NSW and spoke to members of The Young Adults Disabled Association ahead of being taken to court by a council for 688,000 viewers. Australian Ninja Warrior leapt into the semi finals, with 409,000 watching as the ninjas battled it out for a spot in the upcoming grand final. As Wimbledon entered round four, Aussie Alex de Minaur was narrowly defeated by Chilean Christian Garin in front of 412,000. With the match running longer than expected, the end had to be cut in favour of crossing to Nick Kyrgios taking on the USA’s Brandon Nakashima, with 372,000 watching Kyrgios take the title 4-6, 6-4, 7-6, 3-6, 6-2.

Home and Away brought 467,000 to sunny Summer Bay on Seven, before Big Brother dropped another bombshell. 348,000 tuned in as a double elimination saw Estelle and Reggie leave the house – however, the pair were soon reunited in Big Brother’s Secret Arcade unbeknownst to the rest of the house.

The Project (266,000 6:30pm / 399,000 7pm) also covered the unfolding flood threat across Greater Sydney, and interviewed Tom Cashman and Gen Fricker ahead of their Pilot Week show, Time To Die, which forces stand-up comedians to bomb on stage. Still enjoying their time in Tasmania, the MasterChef cooks created dishes using fresh truffles that they dug up earlier in the day. Keyma won the challenge in front of 624,000, earning her a spot in the top four and sending the remaining cooks to a service elimination. Have You Been Paying Attention? rounded out the night, dissecting the week that was for 598,000.

After the departure of Leigh Sales, Sarah Ferguson stepped into the 7.30 hot seat on the ABC. For her first episode as anchor, 593,000 watched as the show covered the threat of a global recession and interviewed acting prime minister Richard Marles. Australian Story concluded the story it began telling last week, with 513,000 watching part two of the mysterious death of Amy Wensley. Afterwards, Four Corners investigated how factional infighting contributed to the Liberal Party’s election loss for 535,000 viewers. 

The highest ratings show on SBS was Marilyn: Her Final Secret which drew a crowd of 167,000.
