Murder mysteries bring audiences to ABC

It was the final weddings of the season on Nine’s Married At First Sight (MAFS), with 1,806,000 tuning in to see Melinda wed Layton, and Melissa and Josh exchange vows – up 64%. 60 Minutes followed with a lift of 17%, bringing in 997,000 viewers.

Australian Idol was up 23%, with 867,000 watching as the show reached the halfway point of the auditions, handing out more golden tickets to aspiring singers.

10’s Australian Survivor saw the first Hero eliminated after an eight day run of avoiding tribal council, with 815,000 tuning in – up 46%.

Nine has won the night with a primary share of 26.3% and a network share of 31.9%. 10 Peach has topped multichannels with a 2.4% share. 

It was the first Married At First Sight commitment ceremony on Nine, with 933,000 joining the couples on the couch to face a grilling from the experts – making it the top show of the night overall. Although there were some “leave” votes (and Harrison and Shannon got reamed out for their pre-experiment romances), all of the couples stay on to tackle Intimacy Week this week. 60 Minutes had 524,000 viewers as convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell gave her first interview since her conviction, and the show spoke to megastar P!nk ahead of her Australian tour. 

It was crime night on the ABC, with 588,000 tuning in for Death in Paradise, before 491,000 solved a murder alongside a repeat of Vera.

On Seven, the final Top 50 tickets were given out on Australian Idol, with 453,000 watching as the auditions wrapped up for 2023. A repeat of ABBA vs Queen followed, with 210,000 watching as the iconic bands went head to head.

The Project (167,000 6:30pm / 253,000 7pm) looked at the spate of flying objects being shot down over North America, and farewelled Rachel Corbett as she heads off on maternity leave. It was a particularly messy Tribal Council on Australian Survivor, with 498,000 watching as several different schemes collided, ultimately sending Fraser home from the Villains tribe. 

The highest rating show on SBS was Ancient Egypt By Train, with 168,000 viewers.
