7,221,000 supported our Matildas in Seven’s Semi-Final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup against England, up 16%. 2,438,000 watched the Pre-Game, up 12% and 2,905,000 tuned in for the Post-Game, up 13%.
567,000 watched Nine’s The Block in Brisbane and Sydney where the Blockheads were halfway through building their studios, up 114%.
532,000 viewed the final of ABC’s Gruen. Host Wil Anderson was joined by Todd Sampson, Russell Howcroft, Karen Ferry and Camey O’Keefe, up 68%.

Nine won Wednesday night with a primary share of 21.9%; however, Seven took out the top network share with 29.6%. 7Two has won multi channels with a 3.0% share.
Nine’s A Current Affair (669,000) put the spotlight on hundreds of victims who took to the streets of Brisbane on August 23, demanding something be done to deal with the growing crime wave in Queensland. 541,000 then watched The Block. Due to the fact they had to restump their entire home, Kristy and Brett were told they could work ahead while Leah and Gian had to demo all of their ceilings after old plaster fell off the roof. Under Investigation was up next with Liz Hayes and her team of investigators looking into the deadly mushroom lunch which left three dead and another clinging to life in small-town Victoria. 385,000 watched on. A repeat of Dream Listing Byron Bay followed where Amanda hoped an Asian-inspired property would tick her clients’ boxes.

431,000 began their evening in Summer Bay with Seven’s Home and Away where Theo copped Remi’s fury and Bree was reminded of her dark past. Then it was the final Blind Auditions of The Voice Australia 2023. 589,000 watched as coaches Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Rit Ora and Jason Derulo made their final choices. 20-year-old bellboy Christian Ellis shared how singing gave him something to live for and Newcastle water polo player Emily Kate, 18, mesmerised all four coaches with her own spin on 90s classic Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls. Then, 190,000 tuned in for two episodes of Without Sin. The four-part psychological thriller explores the relationship between a convict and a grieving mother in a relentless quest for the truth.
459,000 watched ABC’s 7.30 explore why the government knocked back Qatar Airways’ request to run more flights into Australia and John Clarke’s daughter shared the joy and frustrations of growing up with a natural comedian. Elsewhere, Sarah Ferguson interviewed Jim Chalmers. Hard Quiz followed for 497,000 before the season premiere of Matt Okine and Denise Scott’s Mother and Son. After Maggie (Scott) sets fire to the kitchen, her recently single son, Arthur (Okine) moves back into the family home where eccentric Maggie calls all the shots. 441,000 tuned in. The season finale of Gold Diggers saw suspected murderers, thieves (and confirmed hussies), Gert and Marigold take the stand in their murder trial for 168,000.

On 10, The Project (166,000 (6:30pm)/ 104,000 (7:00pm)) welcomed The Cat Empire’s Felix Riebl and Ollie McGill and spoke to Georgie Tunny about her new podcast with Abbey Gelmi, Two Good Sports plus they looked at how the creator of the infamous Fyre Festival has announced that he is going to attempt to organise a Fyre Festival 2.0. Thank God You’re Here then followed as Celia Pacquola sent actor Virginia Gay and comedians Guy Montgomery, Danielle Walker (Gold Diggers) and Aaron Chen through the blue door with guest judge Tony Martin. Gay won the coveted “Bachelor of Bulls**t” during the episode as 442,000 watched on. Then, it was another episode of The Inspired Unemployed (Impractical) Jokers. During the episode, the social media sensations took over a suburban supermarket causing chaos at the checkout for 224,000. Then, 109,000 stayed on for Five Bedrooms. With her major exam looming and rumours that a marriage proposal might be brewing, Heather’s world is blown apart when she learns of Ben’s betrayal.
The highest rating non-news show on SBS was Michael Mosley Secrets of the Superagers with 106,000 tuning in to see Dr Michael Mosley met a 73-year-old jazz musician in Chicago, discovering why playing music can prevent hearing loss.
