Nine has won Easter Sunday with a primary share of 21.6% and a network share of 28.6%. 10 Bold has taken top spot for multichannels, with a 3.0% share.
Nine’s 60 Minutes interviewed champion swimmer Ariarne Titmus about her life so far and what comes next, and told 450,000 the story of a pool attendant who unwittingly found himself a part of a sex, religion, and political scandal. Tina followed, following the life and music of Tina Turner for 306,000.
Earlier in the afternoon, Sunday NRL went down to the wire with 215,000 watching the Gold Coast Titans edge out the St George Illawarra Dragons 20-18 in the dying minutes, breaking the hearts of Dragons fans (including today’s TV ratings writer).
On Seven, 390,000 followed the officers of Highway Patrol out on duty, before a repeat of Kath & Kim: Our Effluent Life took 165,000 for a trip down memory lane.
It was another tight game on Sunday afternoon AFL, with the Essendon Bombers taking the win 88-75 over the Greater Western Sydney Giants. 126,000 watched as Jake Stringer put the cherry on top of the game for Essendon, scoring a goal of the year contender from well outside the 50-meter mark.
On 10, The Project (156,000 6:30pm / 265,000 7pm) looked at a rare overlap of three faiths – this year Easter falls at the same time as Passover and Ramadan – and spoke to the Townsville locals tackling youth crime rates. There were Easter antics on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! with 459,000 watching as the campmates woke up to a visit from the Easter Bunny… and a particularly festive chicken that would drop eggs on the camp the be collected for dinner. The show came in as top entertainment show of the night.
On the ABC, a repeat of Grand Designs took 260,000 to revisit Adrian and Megan, a couple whose dream home in East Sussex became a nightmare. On In Our Blood, 123,000 watched as David and Jeremy took on a new approach: terrifying people into paying attention to the AIDS crisis.
Bright and early on Easter Sunday, a new season of Bluey premiered to 445,000 delighted families, as the second half of Season Three begins.
The highest rating show on SBS was Ray Martin: Mysteries Of The Outback with 204,000.
