Would I Lie To You? is premiering on Monday, February 28 at 8:30 pm.
Hosted by television and radio presenter Chrissie Swan, accompanied by ‘team captains’, Frank Woodley and Chris Taylor, the comedy panel show will be airing on 10 and available on 10 Play on demand.
It is based on the popular UK format of the show that airs on the BBC, which is hosted by Rob Brydon with team captains, comedians David Mitchell and Lee Mack.
Joining the panel of ‘Would I lie to you?’ Australia is The Project’s Carrie Bickmore, as well as comedians Ross Noble, Luke McGregor, and Zoe Coombs Marr.
Team captains and guests will be presented with scenario cards that they must read out to the opposing team and the audience.
The aim of the game is to tell the story – whether fact or fiction – and convince the other players and audience that you are telling the truth, by elaborating and answering specific questions.
The original version of the show is produced by UK production company Zeppotron, which has a reputation throughout the industry for its high-quality comedy entertainment shows. It started airing in the UK in 2007 and has garnered over 2 million views per season in its 15 seasons since.
The first show of Series 1 had 3.8 million viewers; a 19% audience share at the time it was broadcast.
The show came second place in The British Comedy Guide’s 2010 awards in the category ‘Best British TV panel show,’ and has been nominated for BAFTA awards.
‘Would I Lie To You?’ has been well-received across the world, airing on ABC Australia, TVNZ in New Zealand, and Britbox in the US and Canada. It has seen multiple re-makes, including in New Zealand, Malaysia, Sweden and Czech.
UK ‘Would I Lie To You?’ has had guest appearances from well-known comedians such as Jimmy Carr, Richard Osman and Russell Howard.
Would I Lie To You? will be available to watch from Monday, February 28 on Channel 10 and 10 Play.
