Over 70 artists are set to take the stage to turn as many chairs as possible with the new season of The Voice, returning to Channel Seven and 7plus at 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 6.
Global star Jason Derulo is making his debut in the new season as he is joined by returning coaches UK superstar Rita Ora, singer-songwriter Guy Sebastian and singer and actress Jessica Mauboy.
With new coach Jason and a sense of rivalry in the air, The Voice coaches are set to find Australia’s next singing star and claim victory.
The Voice begins with the blind auditions, with host Sonia Kruger meeting artists before they take to the stage hoping to turn the superstar coaches’ iconic red chairs. The stakes are high with the coaches’ teams capped at 12 spots each.
If the artist gets more than one chair turn, the coaches must pitch to the artist, with the artist deciding which team to join.
The block button is returning to cause drama as each coach has the ultimate power to block a rival coach from getting an artist they turned a chair for.
Coaches get two blocks, and they can use them at any point during a Blind Audition, including in the middle of the rival coaches’ pitch. If a coach has been blocked, they are unable to pitch for that artist to be on their team.
With over 70 contestants competing for a spot, below are some of the names to watch:
• Alex Jeans, 39, NSW: A rocker who loves playing lawn bowls with his grandma
• Bella Mackenzie, 18, QLD: Passionate country singer sticking to her roots
• Christian Ellis, 20, QLD: Music saved him after a freak accident almost left him paralysed
• Chris Hodder, 60, ACT: Decorated war veteran with support dog Bella by his side
• David Aumua, 24, QLD: Youth worker from a supportive family of 13
