The answer of who will make it to the top of The Summit is set to be answered in The Summit Grand Finale airing on Sunday, June 4 at 7:00 pm on Channel Nine and 9Now.
Brooke, Isaac, Lulu and Jans are the final four trekkers who have made it to the last leg of the mountain, overcoming hard obstacles and making decisions that saw the strongest bonds made between the trekkers broken for progression in the trek to The Summit.
The end of the second last episode of the season saw a package being dropped off to the trekkers with a note inside saying there was only room for three trekkers at the peak of The Summit. This twist is set to shake how the season may end as the trailer for the final episode also teases another twist in regards to how the prize money will be distributed.
Mediaweek spoke to contestant Alex Silvagni after he was eliminated from the show and revealed some of the strategy he used to get as far as he did.
“I didn’t want to be to one side or the other,” Silvagni said. “It even was a part of voting for Josh [Waldhorn]. I thought, okay, where are the masses voting? It might’ve been a cop out but I needed to go with that because I’d put a target on my back if I’m opposed to the others and then [I chose to] sit in the middle and be that Switzerland so you’re not sticking out like a sore thumb and putting a target on your back.”
Given that this is the premiere season of the series, there was no “reference point” for the contestants to off.
“You watch reality shows that have had seasons before them like Survivor and you’ve got a reference point and you know what you need to do in terms of strategies, voting and everything else. But something like this flagship series, I had absolutely no idea what was going to go on here. We just had to be nimble and come up with something on the fly.”
