Following a 2023 season that covered every sport from cricket and football to everything in between, The Front Bar: All Sports Edition is back for three weeks of shows on Channel Seven and 7plus.
The first episode of 2024 will air at 8.30pm on Thursday, 15 February 2024.
Focussed on all sports, Mick Molloy, Andy Maher and Sam Pang will once again be serving Furphy Beer and interviewing sports stars from multiple codes. Guests will reflect on the biggest moments and untold stories of their careers, including Cathy Freeman OAM, basketballer Luc Longley AM, Australian tennis legend Pat Cash and rugby league’s Mal Meninga AM.
Australian actor Eric Bana will also make an appearance at the bar.
The Front Bar host, Mick Molloy, said: “We have some of the Australia’s best sporting stars joining us. I was thinking of wearing a similar outfit to the one Cathy wore at the 2000 Olympics, but the censor wouldn’t allow it. Apparently, there could be kids watching.
“I’ve spent all summer doing nothing but sitting on a couch watching sport, so it’ll be a nice change to spend some time sitting at a bar talking about sport.”
This will be the second year of The Front Bar to be sponsored by Furphy Beer. Previously, the main sponsor had been Carlton Draught.
At the time of the switch, Molloy said: “Furphy slid into my DMs, we hooked up, and the rest is history. I’ve always been a fan of Furphy. It’s a beer. It’s from Geelong and…it’s a beer.
“It’s great to have Furphy on board. They had to pass my stringent taste test first, which went for about two weeks, but I have high standards.
“I have a reputation in the industry as a tough deal maker, but the free sample eventually got me over the line,” he said.
“We wanted to change something, and once I checked that Andy Maher’s contract was watertight, we decided to switch to Furphy.”
