In their first match back in Australia since the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the Socceroos are gearing up to take on Ecuador at CommBank Stadium on Friday night.
The 2022 World Cup was Australia’s best ever performance, with the final Socceroos match against Argentina (who would go on to win the tournament) drawing in a total 1.7m Australian viewers despite the time zone difference.

With kick off from 8:10pm AEDT, the match can be seen on Channel 10 in Sydney and Melbourne, while live on 10 Bold in Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. The match will also be streamed via both 10 Play and Paramount+. Coverage starts at 7:30pm AEDT.
Speaking about selecting the players who would be donning the Socceroos colours to take on Ecuador, coach Graham Arnold said: “Obviously, some of the older players that we used quite often at the World Cup they’re out injured. So it’s a great opportunity to blend. I think if you put just the kids in all alone without the older players for the leaders to help them on the pitch, it could be a little bit daunting for them. But I think a good mixture, and a good blend of players will be crucial.”
Projected Starting 11s:
AUSTRALIA (4-2-2-2): Ryan; Degenek, Souttar, Rowles, Behich; Baccus, Irvine; Metcalfe, Goodwin; Borrello, Duke.
ECUADOR (4-4-1-1): Galíndez; Preciado, Torres, Hincapié, Estupiñán; Caicedo Méndez, Mena, Sarmiento; Sornoza; Estrada.
This is the first game of a two match friendly series. Australia’s second clash against Ecuador will be held at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Tuesday March 28th. The game will be broadcast live on 10 Bold and streamed live via 10 Play and Paramount+.
